Week 2: LinkedIn to Link Up

I added this account on my LinkedIn to showcase my work to future employers.
Vice Media originally started as a punk zine, which at the beginning of my college journey, was the thing that inspired me to distinguished my brand as. Vice has a way of reporting news, and investigating into things, and telling those reports to their audience that feels like a story. One of my greatest passions in life is storytelling, and it’d be such an honor to do as a career.
Autostraddle in a lot of ways is like Vice but focuses more on Women and LGBTQ+ culture, news, entertainment and politics. Autostraddle connects with me on such a personal level that I, both, personally and professionally can communicate and connect to the intended audience. The company’s culture, motto and positive attitude is unlike any company I’ve read or seen. They’re so open and inviting that this is a company that I could see myself be truly invested in. Their website provides such a community-like atmosphere that people submit their own stories on. I’d love for my stories to be what people may need to hear to help them in any way.
I follow these two companies because I want to be in the loop in what they’re looking for, to network and build relationships with them that will one day open opportunities for me.
This is the key thing that I need to work on, is networking and building relationships with people because currently I don’t have much. Having a set of relationships with credible people can also in turn make me look like a credible person that can benefit the employer. That is what I’ll be working on this month.
