Man, where to begin… Koizumi-San is a blonde, high school student who basically has an addiction to ramen. This girl can literally eat 4 bowls of ramen and then some dessert and all she ever eats is ramen. Yuu, a blue, short haired, high-schooler has a much weirder, no creepier obsession and that’s Koizumi-San herself. This anime is all about Koizumi eating and talking about the details of how, when, where, why, what and every tiny detail of ramen.
This is honestly the only part of the anime that makes it worth watching. Learning the history of ramen and how it’s created and how the chefs delicately put together ingredients to balance savory and sweet, spicy with savory, etc makes it mouth-watering and my eyes glued to the screen.
BUT…. Yuu is fucking creepy and gets on my nerves. This girl stalks Koizumi all around Tokyo, shoving her face into Koizumi’s space and claiming her as property. I get that this is supposed to be the comedic side of the anime but it’s overly redundant. It’s literally the same episode over and over again but with a different location and possibly a different ramen, nothing really interesting happens. Yuu has two volumes of notebooks that describe each and every encounter that she has with Koizumi-San. It was hard to watch the whole season of this because it got boring.
Almost every single episode Koizumi-San attracts both males and females and influences them to become addicted to ramen. It’s like a strange super power how much she entrances people by her good looks and her super-speed ramen eating skills. The intro and outro music is absolutely poppin’, I love it.
There isn’t a story plot, there isn’t really any conflict other than Koizumi-San unable to shake off Yuu even when she politely declines every single invitation or Yuu unable to get Koizumi-San to basically fall in love with her. The ending was just like any other ending that happened in the other episodes, but I’m glad there isn’t a cliffhanger to suggest that there’s going to be anymore.
This season isn’t that great to have a following season but if you want to know more about ramen and become hungry then take a crack at this anime, otherwise it really isn’t worth watching.
Overall Rating: 2/5 or 4/10
