So, whoops I uh didn’t know that Food Wars had three seasons which makes a lot of sense as to why it’s called “The Third Plate.” So… I only watched the third season and … yeah I’m not planning to watch the other two seasons just because there I feel like that would be a waste of time. But let me know what you guys think, should I watch season 1 & 2? Is it that good or worth it, let me know down in the comments.
This is absolutely amazing, the story, the plots, the even predictable twist at the end which wasn’t so OMG surprising but it’s still amazing. For me, I think what really stood out was the characters. Each and every character has a distinct style of cooking, and personality. The way the dynamic is written between these characters is absolutely awesome, I especially love it (and in any other anime) when the characters go all chibi.
Soma is clearly my favorite character along with this dude who loves being nude under an apron. Sorry, I don’t remember his name. There isn’t a whole lot to really discuss, it reminds me a lot of Fairy Tail in how the characters fight with and for each other. There’s a blonde girl (Erina) and a red headed boy (Soma) who obviously like each other but fight like hell. Soma protects everything he loves and somehow is able to overcome the impossible by pure will power. It’s a trope that we’re all familiar with yet at the same time can so easily fall in love with another 10,000 seasons of it repeating itself.
The conflicts are different yet there isn’t really a twist that “got me,” almost every twist has a predictable outcome and even though this season left on a cliffhanger eh I have a pretty good feeling that Soma will find a way to beat his way to the top and possible even defeat Erina’s father in a cooking challenge. I’ll probably watch the next season that’s to come but after all the more interesting anime that I have in line.
Even though it’s predictable and I’ve seen this type of thing in all other animes, the one thing that’s different is that it involves the cooking methods, history of this type of cuisine and the reasoning behind certain ingredient and cooking techniques.
This is something I’d recommend to people who are just beginning to watch animes because it’s light, innocent and funny.
Overall Rating: 7/10 or 3.5/5
